Trip Highlights
– You will spend 2 days working at a drop in center for children and youth where students get help with homework, a hot meal and participate in a variety of after school activities.
– Exploring the culture and history of Cuzco. Visit Machu Piccu
– Participation in leather working and jewelry making workshops with students
Day 1 Cuzco
Arrive at any time. Includes arrival transfer to your hotel.
Overnight at Aranjuez Hotel or similar
Days 2-3 Volunteer with Children
Spend mornings and afternoons volunteering at a drop-in center for children supported by Planeterra and STA Travel. Play games, help with homework, teach English, help with the cooking and participate in various workshops such as leather working and jewelry making (intermediate Spanish required).
Overnight at Casa Valdivia or similar
Days 3-4 Cuzco
Enjoy a Guided City Tour on Day 3. Day 4 for is free to explore the city. There are several good museums in Cuzco, including the Archaeological Museum, which also houses a small art museum, the Regional History Museum and the Religious Art Museum. Our best advice for exploring Cuzco is to wear a comfortable pair of shoes, arm yourself with a city map and set off to explore!
Overnight at Aranjuez Hotel or similar
Day 5-6
Board a morning train that winds through the spectacular Urubamba Valley to the end of the line: the village of Aguas Calientes, a frontier town nestled in the hills beneath Machu Picchu. Free time to relax and explore the town.
Overnight at Pachacutek Hotel or similar (Breakfast)
Day 7 Machu Picchu/Cuzco
Travel by early morning bus for a guided tour of the inspiring Machu Picchu ruins. Return to Cuzco in the late afternoon and transfer to your hotel for the night.
Overnight at Aranjuez Hotel or similar (Breakfast)
Day 8 Cuzco
Transfer to airport. Depart for flight home
