After breakfast, travelers will begin the volunteer portion of their voluntourism trip to South Africa.  visit to the Mmpuello Day Care and Orphanage in the Windmill Park Squatters Camp.  The Mmpuello Creche Day Care was started by Maria Gaba, a local resident with a big heart.  Maria, a single parent, saw a need and began taking in children one by one who had either been abused or orphaned because of the growing Aids epidemic in South Africa.  With little resources, she then opened a day care – known as a crèche – to assist the working mothers in the village.  Mothers are able to drop their children off, on a pay as you can basis.  Maria, along with the help of Silviya Simmonds, an Australian native, who moved to South Africa over 20 years ago, have established a non-profit organization that enables them to work with groups and organizations who want to lend their support.

Travel to do good volunteers will participate in an “Enrichment Camp” for the students and orphanage
